Kapanlagi.com - Prime Video streaming service has released a series titled THE ACES starring Emir Mahira, Kevin Ardilova, and Adhisty Zara. This sports drama offers a different experience as it tells the story of self-discovery set in the world of billiards.
Bambang Kuntara Mukti, the director, revealed that billiards shown in the series is not just for style. The sport becomes the cause of conflicts throughout the eight episodes.
"Billiards is the main focus in this series because conflicts arise from it. Before shooting, we had three to four months to choreograph the billiard movements while also deepening the drama. It was quite a challenging task," said Bambang during a round table session in the Sudirman area, South Jakarta.

Because billiards is the main focus of the series THE ACES, the scenes are presented in great detail. So that those who understand it don't feel like what they're watching is done haphazardly, but it is still interesting for the general public.
"We make sure that the viewers believe that the characters are really skilled in playing billiards. There is one shot that we put so much effort into. One shot can take up to 30 takes. The same goes for the drama, there are many long takes with long dialogues starting from episode one. It will be difficult if the actors are not excellent. I take care of the actors until around day 40 so that their energy remains excellent," added the director, who is familiarly called Ipoenk.
Emir Mahira, the actor in the series THE ACES, revealed that the shooting process is indeed detailed, especially when it involves billiards. So, he appears like a professional even though he only learned it when he got involved in this project.
"Shooting this series involves a lot of technical aspects. For example, how to hold the cue stick like a professional and other things. These small gestures may not be noticed by ordinary people, but for a billiards player, they are very important to make it convincing," explained Emir in the same session.
