Mark admitted that when he wanted to marry Santi, he didn't get the approval from his prospective in-laws. Besides the significant age difference, Santi herself was only 16 years old at that time.

In addition to being rejected by prospective in-laws, Mark Sungkar also faced protests from his children. At that time, Shireen Sungkar and her daughter who were in the Netherlands, the late Jamilah Sungkar, were the ones who opposed.

"The children were the ones who protested, 'Don't you have someone older, dad?'. Yusuf stayed silent, two of them protested, especially Jamila and Shireen," said Mark Sungkar.

"If Kia (Zaskia) doesn't mind, she even wants to do my makeup for the wedding," added Santi.

Not giving up, Mark Sungkar slowly explained to his children. According to him, what he felt for Santi was the answer to all his prayers.

"I assure you that what dad is doing is from prayer, because dad wants a righteous wife and for us to be happy in this world and the hereafter, that's all," he concluded.
