Melly Lee Does Her Own Make-Up at Pesta Raya Ramadan: Korean Look Style with Aegyo Sal!

The atmosphere behind the scenes of the 'Pesta Raya Ramadan' event by Indosiar held in Bekasi looks very busy. In one corner of the makeup room, the beautiful dangdut singer Melly Lee is seen engrossed with various color palettes and brushes in her hands. Instead of sitting quietly waiting to be made up by a professional, the 2020 Liga Dangdut Indonesia (LIDA) champion from Indosiar appears very skilled at applying makeup on her own face in front of the mirror.

Melly is indeed known as one of the artists who is very independent when it comes to stage appearance. Since the afternoon, she has been gradually working on her makeup to look her best when it's time to perform.

Melly admits she is more satisfied with the results of her own handiwork because she feels she knows best the areas of her face that need extra attention or should be concealed. Besides her satisfaction with the results, Melly actually has another quite unique reason for being reluctant to use the services of a makeup artist.

"I always do my own makeup because I know that doing my own makeup is nice since I know where my flaws are. So I know what to enhance or what to tone down," said Melly Lee when met at the Transera Waterpark parking lot, Bekasi, Friday (13/3/2026).

Melly admitted to having a "not wanting to hurt feelings" nature when it comes to giving corrections to others. She feels freer to express herself without the burden of feeling awkward if there is a makeup result that she thinks is not quite right.

"Actually, if I do makeup on someone else, it’s fine, but it just feels awkward when it's done, and then we ask, 'Can I change this?' It’s definitely okay, but for someone like me, who doesn’t want to hurt feelings, it feels like, 'Oh, it’s uncomfortable if I want to correct the makeup,'" she continued.

For her appearance this time, Melly chose a Korean-style makeup or Korean Look. One of the details she highlighted is aegyo sal, which is a makeup technique that emphasizes the under-eye bags to make the face look sweeter and more youthful. Because she wore a hijab, Melly felt that the preparation process became much more practical as she no longer had to think about complicated hairstyles.

"The concept isn't too complicated because today I'm wearing a hijab. Actually, it's nice to wear a hijab because it's simple; we don't need to do our hair in a fancy way. So we can just focus on makeup and not worry about anything else," said Melly Lee.

Melly's skill in makeup was actually self-taught over the years as she built her career in the music industry. She often observed how professionals did their makeup, and then she tried to practice it herself. Even when she wasn't feeling well, Melly still forced herself to do her own makeup because it had become a habit that was hard to break.

"I usually do a Korean Look makeup style, I often use aegyo sal underneath like this; I like that Korean-style makeup. One pair of eyelashes is usually enough, but if the event is more bold, I use two pairs of eyelashes. It's simple because we're outdoors, even though it's hot tonight, I can really feel it," she explained.

Melly Lee's appearance is part of the festivities of "Pesta Raya Ramadan" Indosiar. The people of Bekasi and surrounding areas have crowded the location since the afternoon to participate in off-air activities featuring performances by Eby DA, Tasya DA7, and Arbil DA7.
