Chiki Fawzi Chooses to Reach Gaza via Sea Route, Here’s Why

Chiki mentioned that the effort to break the blockade via the sea has been carried out for decades by various global coalitions. Although the chances of success are not always high, this struggle is considered very important to continue pursuing.

"So ordinary people like us really can’t use the official land routes. So indeed, breaking through via the sea route has been done a lot by international activists since the 80s. You can look up the Freedom Flotilla Coalition," explained Chiki Fawzi when met in the Kemang area on Wednesday (4/3/2026).

2. Five Initial Points of Departure

For the departure scheduled for April 12, Chiki and the group have mapped out several initial points of departure. Because it is a global movement, the delegates will depart from various ports in different countries before eventually gathering at the destination.

"It’s about a week from Tunisia. So if I’m not mistaken, this year there are five initial points. There’s Italy, Tunisia, Barcelona, Greece, and one more Turkey if I’m not mistaken because the delegation from Turkey also participated yesterday," said Chiki.

3. Monitor Global Geopolitical Conditions

Realizing the high level of danger, Chiki does not want to act recklessly. He and his team continue to monitor the highly fluctuating global geopolitical developments, especially the involvement of major countries in conflicts in the region.

"Mental, physical, and various coordination preparations are needed to assess the global geopolitical conditions. The coordination preparation is indeed the most important because as much as possible, the plan this time is for us to sail together," he expressed again regarding the technical preparations.

4. Plans After Landing in Gaza

If successful in landing in Gaza, Chiki plans to stay for some time to accompany the people there. He wants his presence to be part of the humanitarian defense for those affected by the conflict.

"And the chances of success are indeed small but worth the effort. Even when we have successfully landed in Gaza, the plan is indeed to stay there for some time to help the people there," said Chiki Fawzi.

5. Join the Fight for Justice

For Chiki, this departure holds deep meaning both from a religious and humanitarian perspective. She feels a moral responsibility to fight for justice for the people there.

"Yes, because my heart is there. And from a Muslim perspective, there is a test of faith here, because we actually have an obligation to fight for Al-Aqsa. From a humanitarian standpoint, what is happening there is truly inhumane," said Chiki.

Chiki Fawzi's decision to go to Palestine by sea route has certainly drawn significant attention from her family. As a daughter, Chiki admits that it is not easy to explain her dangerous mission to her father, Ikang Fawzi.

Her father showed a shocked reaction when he first heard about his daughter's daring plan. Although initially surprised, Chiki explained that her father is someone who greatly values humanitarian struggles.

Through intense communication, Chiki slowly convinced her parents that what she was doing was a matter of conscience. "Yes, it's a gradual effort, but Dad really knows this is a struggle here. I was very surprised, bro. Of course I was surprised, talking about various things between father and child," said Chiki Fawzi.

However, Chiki is grateful because she finally received the blessing and strong moral support from Ikang Fawzi to continue her good intentions. "Dad supports me. Of course there is worry, it's natural for parents. The message is to take care of yourself, maintain your faith," said Chiki Fawzi.
