Eric Chou Reveals Secret Ritual Before Taking the Stage at Jakarta Concert

Eric Chou has started making various preparations ahead of his world tour titled Odyssey Stars, including for the schedule in Jakarta in May 2026. Eric revealed that this tour will be very different from the previous tour that visited Indonesia in 2024. Eric promises many new elements, from dance moves to much fresher musical arrangements for his fans.

"The Odyssey Stars is actually almost like a new show. This is a completely new performance. From the opening, if you have ever seen my Odyssey concert, from the opening and various segments, parts of the concert have changed a lot," said Eric Chou in a virtual press conference on Tuesday (10/3/2026). Although his concert schedule is very packed, Eric still maintains the quality of his vocals very strictly. He admits to having his own ritual backstage before starting the performance.

Unlike many artists who enjoy a lively atmosphere before performing, Eric actually prefers the tranquility backstage to keep his energy full when facing his fans.

"I like to drink warm water specifically on concert days. Just to smooth my voice, my throat. And actually, I think many people believe that the atmosphere backstage is fun and noisy, but in my backstage, it’s actually very quiet," explained Eric Chou.

In addition to maintaining mental tranquility, Eric also pays great attention to his food intake leading up to the big day. He is willing to avoid delicious foods to keep his physical condition in top shape during the concert, which is expected to last 2 to 2.5 hours.

"I can't eat like oily food, spicy food. Mostly just protein, um, rice, broccoli. Simple things. Boring food," said Eric Chou.

Eric hopes that all the thorough preparations he has made can provide satisfaction for his fans in Jakarta. He can't wait to perform his new songs from the 2025 album that will be included in this tour's setlist.

"We will have more new songs because I am releasing an album in 2025. So many of those songs will be included in this new show," concluded Eric Chou.
