Fariz RM Shares with Orphanages, Wants a Peaceful Life in Old Age

Entering his twilight years, senior musician Fariz Roestam Moenaf now has a more religious and calm outlook on life. Under new management, he admits he wants to reduce his busy professional activities and spend more time on social activities such as sharing with orphans in two locations, namely the Tebet orphanage and Mizan Kalibata orphanage together with Deolipa Yumara, his legal counsel and also Fariz's management.

This Ramadan moment is utilized by Fariz to reminisce while also doing charity through the auction of his historic stage costumes. One of the costumes being auctioned is the jacket he wore when receiving a prestigious award at the BASF Awards decades ago.

"The special thing about that jacket is that both designs are my personal creations and both have historical value. Because first, I made it together with a Balinese artist that I then brought, and I performed it when I was on stage at the BASF Awards in 1989-1990," reminisced Fariz RM when met in the Tebet area, South Jakarta, Thursday (11/03/2026).

Fariz explained that the brown jacket is very special because it was worn when his album Barcelona won the Best Latin Jazz category. The memory of that glory is now transformed into fresh funding assistance for the education and daily needs of the children in the orphanage.

Fariz's decision to auction this memorabilia is also related to his desire to "retire" from the hustle and bustle of the music industry as a business. He wants to enjoy God's blessings in the remainder of his life without being burdened by exhausting professional targets.

"I want to live more, enjoying my old age more peacefully, without being chased by the professional obligations that I have to fulfill. I want to enjoy God's blessings to me as a musician more comfortably, more freely, basically to retire," he honestly expressed.

Fariz's closeness to the world of orphanages is not a new thing made up for the sake of image. He admits that he was raised in a family tradition that highly values generosity since he was a child.

For Fariz, the blessings he receives during his career on the music stage are not entirely his own. There are others' rights that must be channeled so that his life becomes more blessed and beneficial to fellow humans.

"I am quite close to orphanages. Since I was little, my family has taught me to always share, because blessings come from Allah, so always share," asserted the musician who was once part of the music group Transs.

Although the nominal amount from the auction was not detailed, Fariz feels very grateful because his dream of sharing was realized smoothly. He hopes that this spirit of sharing does not stop only during the month of Ramadan, but can continue to be practiced throughout his life. "Alhamdulillah, at least I can share happiness for the orphanage, insya Allah I can share happiness for all of us," concluded Fariz RM with gratitude.
