Ministry of Health in Deddy Corbuzier's Podcast: Spread of Corona Virus Can Change from Droplet to Airborne

Achmad Yurianto explains that the natural habitat of the corona virus is actually in animals. Due to its ability to mutate, the virus then spreads from animals to humans and from one human to another. Observing the mutation pattern of this new virus, Achmad Yurianto says there is a possibility that the transmission of the corona virus, which was initially through droplets (small water particles), can become an airborne disease (a disease that can be transmitted through the air).

"If we look at it now with the size of the virus which is quite large. Then we look at the mutation pattern. There is a possibility for it to change into an airborne disease," said Achmad Yurianto in the video podcast uploaded on Deddy Corbuzier's Youtube channel.

The possibility of changes in the transmission method can occur because the virus is the most unstable creature. Changes in the corona virus have been seen from its rapid spread, from the first wave in China to the second wave that occurred in various countries around the world.

"This virus is the most unstable creature. The most unstable. So there is a possibility like that. Although we believe that what is happening now, in the second wave, this is our first wave, we know that it happened in Mainland China with its epicenter in Wuhan. It was not successfully contained completely, but it was limited in Mainland China so that it could be controlled. After that, once it started tapering off, what happened outside of Mainland China? We see Korea, we see Iran, we see Italy. In fact, outside of Mainland China, it increased rapidly. This virus itself has already undergone changes in its character," said Achmad Yurianto.

2. Causes of Change

Achmad Yurianto also explained that the factors that cause the virus to easily change are its unstable DNA structure. In addition to internal factors, external factors such as weather, climate, and genetic interactions with the host are also causes of changes in the virus.

"Because the characteristic of the virus is its unstable DNA structure, it easily changes. Influenced by weather factors, influenced by climate factors, and so on. Also, how it interacts genetically with the host," said the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Ministry of Health.
