Mother and Sister Died Trapped in a Ship, Ayu Anjani Feels Guilty About This

Kapanlagi.com - Sad news came from Ayu Anjani's family. Her mother and sister, who were both actors in a soap opera, died in the sinking of the Tiana GT 61 ship in the waters of Komodo National Park, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, on Tuesday morning local time (28/6/2022).

Ayu's mother and sister were trapped on the bottom deck when the ship tilted to the right, causing water to enter. The body of her mother, Jumiatun Widaningsih, was successfully evacuated one and a half hours after the incident. Meanwhile, Annisa Fitriani, Ayu's sister, was found five hours after the incident.

"My mom wasn't inside for too long, while my sister's evacuation took a long time, five hours after the incident. I'm confused why it took so long, even though my sister was only inside. I never thought this would happen to my family," Ayu said tearfully when contacted via Google Meet on Thursday (30/6/2022).

1. Regret Not Being at the Location

As an artist who also runs a ship rental business in Labuan Bajo, Ayu Anjani feels guilty that her mother and sister died because they were trapped inside. Even though she has been in the business for a long time, she never intended to endanger her loved ones.

"I still feel guilty until now. Because I have a high diving license, I can free dive and even stay at a depth of 20 meters for one or two minutes without breathing. But why wasn't I there? If I were there, I would definitely dive down," Ayu explained.

2. Suspected of Intentional Elements

As recounted by Anne April, Ayu Anjani's surviving sister in the incident, the ship's crew allegedly did nothing when passengers needed help. They were suspected of deliberately wanting to harm Ayu's family.

"The ship was not sailing for the first time, it had sailed ten times. But why did they do it on the trip with my family? I said there was an element of intention because when my sister knocked on the window asking for help, the crew just said 'Hello'. Imagine how hurtful it was? How could I not accept that this happened? I really can't accept it," Ayu said with frustration.

3. Child Was Missing

Anne April, Ayu Anjani's sister, panicked when she could not find her two children. However, she bravely went back inside to look for them because the ship's crew, who were expected to help, only watched.

"They just watched from above while shaking their heads. Meanwhile, my sister swam alone to save her children. She had given up hope if her children were not found, but she told herself not to give up. That's why she dived again to look for her child who was trapped under a suitcase and a floating mattress in the cabin. Fortunately, it could still be retrieved because no crew member entered. My sister was the one who went in," said Ayu Anjani.
