In the midst of the sorrow that still envelops him, Adji Darmaji, the husband of the late Mpok Alpa, shows extraordinary strength for the sake of his four children. He is fully aware that his responsibility as a single parent is now many times greater than before.

Although his heart is shattered due to the loss of his soulmate, Adji Darmaji knows he must not drown in sorrow because the children need him very much. He also expresses how heavy it is now to be both a father and a mother figure for them.

"And I also saw the twins tidying up, seeing the children still shedding tears. It's unbearable, oh God. You live without a mother. A mother can be like a father, but a father may not necessarily be able to be a mother like that," he said when met at his home in the Jagakarsa area, South Jakarta, Thursday (21/8/2025).

He is determined to stay strong and healthy, because the future of the children now fully rests on his shoulders. Adji Darmaji is fully aware that if he falls ill, there will be no one else to take care of his children.

"I try to be strong so that I don’t end up like that, my children shouldn’t either. I have to be strong. Out of the four sad children, I shouldn’t be sad, like that. Later if something happens to me, I get sick, I can’t take care of the children, like that," he said.

"Yes, strengthen the children from the bottom of your heart, yes, they must eat, the twins need milk, and you have to go to a good school, like that. 'You have to go to school, have to go to school, have to go to school,' like that," he said.

The most touching moment was when one of his children innocently asked when their mother would come home. With great patience, Adji Darmaji provided a calming explanation that could be understood by the child's little heart.

"Just earlier we were talking, 'Papa, we haven't come home yet, right? Maybe Mommy will come home first over there, right?' Like that, so innocent that child. 'Mommy is not coming home anymore, dear. Mommy is still at her last home over there in Pujaran,'" he explained.

"But later, if Allah is pleased, we will gather again there. So I told them slowly like that. 'We will also wait here,', I said, 'Just waiting for our turn,' like that, I told them, 'Later we will meet, if Allah is pleased, we will meet there'," said Adji explaining.
