Never Planned, Praz Teguh Says the Special Show 'Mother' Happened Because of This

Kapanlagi.com - One of the comedians from Padang, West Sumatra went through the toughest phase of his life. This is because in mid-2021, his mother, Syalfia Ankuniarti, passed away after fighting the diabetes she had.

Because of this, Praz Teguh lost direction in his life, even thinking of quitting his career as a comedian. Praz also wanted to stay at pesantren to find inner peace.

"At first, the Mother show was never planned, because on May 17, 2021, she passed away, and I felt like I didn't know what I was doing anymore, I thought maybe I should go to pesantren because I thought my mother died because of me. My psyche was that bad," said Pras Teguh when met in the Fatmawati area, South Jakarta recently.

1. Telling the Moment of Mother's Death

Praz Teguh tells the story of the moment before his mother took her last breath. He recounted that at that time, he was busy drinking alcohol while his mother was sick, so without realizing it, his mother eventually passed away.

"Before she died, I was busy getting drunk all day during the fasting month when people seek rewards, but I was seeking drunkenness. Then suddenly, five days after Eid, she passed away. I just got home drunk and found out that she was dying, so I felt like 'damn, this is probably my fault ' until I thought maybe I should go to a boarding school. My wife gave me money to start a business, and at that time, my wife thought, 'okay, if that's the decision,'" he said.

2. Starting from a Joke

Because of the deep sorrow he experienced, Praz Teguh initially intended to hold a stand-up show titled 'Mother' independently. The proceeds from the show would be used to donate to a mosque where his late mother used to worship.

"But before that, I wanted to make a show for my mother where all the income from the show would be given to the mosque where my mother usually prayed, so I wouldn't take a single penny. After that, I wanted to go to a boarding school," he explained.

3. Indonesian Funny Council is Eyeing

After that, unintentionally, the poster of this show was seen by the Indonesian Funny Council (MLI). Then MLI offered to help the show by Praz Teguh with some conditions.

"Accidentally because of the tragedy, the poster was posted and sent to the owner of MLI. It was handled and the result was given to the mosque. Helped with the condition that I became a talent of MLI," he said.
