New Convert, Marcell Darwin Reveals the Reason for Always Rejecting Religious Study Invitations

Interestingly, it turns out that many friends have tried to invite Marcell to participate in Islamic events or activities. However, all this time, the 29-year-old man has always refused for certain reasons.

"I am currently learning the basics first, I can't immediately learn advanced topics. It's like I'm still a kindergarten kid, I'm still learning the recitations, how to pray, and how to perform ablution. So I don't want to immediately dive into deep things, afraid that I won't be able to accept it. So I'm learning slowly. For example, I am guided by Nabila in prayer. Yes, Marcell does still want to focus on learning the basics of Islam. And according to his wife, Nabila, Marcell needs to limit the information that enters his mind for now in order to feel comfortable with his new belief.

"So, it's a common habit for people when they see someone convert, they're like, 'Hey, let's go to this place, event A, organization B'. Marcell is currently holding back. So, I apologize to all friends who invite him to meet ustaz ABCD, it's not that he doesn't want to, but he needs to limit the information first," explained his wife.

2. Still Many Questions

Marcell hopes to be guided patiently and slowly. According to him, so far, the most comfortable teacher to discuss with is his wife, Nabila, and also a ustaz named Reza who happens to be his wife's uncle.

"It means like that, it's a match and I'm afraid he will receive too much information, while he still has many questions in his mind. I'm afraid of hearing things like, 'This is a sin, this can lead to hell or punishment'. I'm scared of such remarks, even from friends themselves. Like, chill," concluded Nabila.
