No One Was Hurt, Haykal Kamil Tells the Moments When His Parents' House Collapsed

Kapanlagi.com - The family of Haykal Kamil has just experienced a rather shocking event. His parents' house suddenly collapsed, damaging one of the main rooms. Haykal revealed that the incident occurred on Tuesday (5/11/2024). At that time, his father was in the television room resting.

"Yesterday was Tuesday, what date was it yesterday? The 5th, yes, November 5th. So at my parents' house, the incident probably happened after Asr. So right at the time of Asr prayer, my mom, dad, and younger sibling were at home," said Haykal Kamil in the Depok area, not long ago.

1. Childhood Home

The house was his residence before he got married. According to Haykal, his parents' house was occupied by the 6th and 7th children, while five of his siblings had already moved elsewhere. The house is a developed building with an old area and an additional new building.

"So it was just the 6th and 7th children living there. And the area is indeed the house, the building is a developed house. So there is an area of the house that is quite old, and then there is a new area of the house," he explained.

2. Moments of the Incident

On the day of the incident, his father, who was in the TV room, heard a suspicious noise coming from the roof, as if something had fallen. When his father checked, it was seen that the asbestos of that room had started to tilt and was almost falling.

"He thought it was from the roof because he was wondering what it was. When he looked, it turned out that the asbestos, the asbestos of the building was very wide. Because it might be about 5x10 meters. It was very large because that was the main area in the house," Haykal said.

"Our dining room, our TV room, everything is there. Suddenly, we heard a sound like someone falling. Then it turned out that the asbestos was starting to tilt a bit. It came loose from there. And that is gypsum, you know, gypsum is heavy. Then it hit the wood, and it couldn't hold it," Haykal continued.

3. Managed to Save Himself

The eternit could not be held by the already fragile wooden supports, so it eventually fell. At the moment the eternit was about to collapse, his father immediately saved himself by running to the backyard.

"Just before it fell down, my dad was actually lying down, resting on the sofa. But because he saw it starting to come down, he finally ran. He ran towards the backyard. As soon as he reached the area of the backyard door, it fell immediately. So the distance was maybe just a fraction of a second," he said.

4. Announce to the Family

This incident was immediately reported in their extended family group. Haykal felt panicked when he received the news via phone from his family.

"Everyone was shocked. When I got the call, I said there was a family group. I mentioned in the big family group that includes mom, dad, siblings, and in-laws. There are brothers-in-law, and nephews and nieces," said Haykal.

"There are a lot of people, about 20. And this group is usually just for chatting, never for making calls. Then suddenly, crying. What's going on? It turns out the house had a disaster, it collapsed. Then I said, wow, this is really serious," he added.

5. Securing the House

Realizing the increasingly dangerous condition of the house, Haykal and his wife immediately headed to his parents' house. Upon arriving there, they immediately secured the vulnerable parts of the house.

"Finally, we called some guys to help take things down. Because it’s really dangerous, you know. If it gets to that point, it could fall at any second," he said.

"So we ended up looking for someone who could help take down the wood that was infested with termites. Eventually, it was helped to be taken down, and the L-shaped area, the last part, was even just touched like this and it fell immediately. So it was like, thank goodness there were no people around," he added.

6. Staying Grateful

Although the house suffered severe damage, Haykal is grateful that his family is safe from this disaster.

"If there had been people there, the story would have been completely different. Maybe, well, that’s just fate," he concluded.
