Officially Free from Prison, Sandy Tumiwa Learns to Forgive and Let Go

Kapanlagi.com - Good news comes from Sandy Tumiwa. The 38-year-old actor is officially released from prison after being detained since March 2019 for the case of misuse of illegal drugs.

Initially, Sandy was sentenced to 4 years in prison. However, after going through various legal processes and the submission of cassation (pardon) by Sandy's side, it was accepted by the court, resulting in a reduced sentence.

"Good afternoon, fellow media and friends who have come this afternoon. As Sandy Tumiwa's legal representative, I would like to inform you that Sandy is now free with the Supreme Court's decision to grant our cassation, reducing the sentence to 1 year and 6 months. The District Court initially sentenced Sandy to 4 years, so I filed an appeal and cassation, which was successful. The Supreme Court issued a verdict of 1 year and 6 months, so today Sandy is released under the assimilation program by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, serving 1 year and 5 months," explained Andre Nusi, Sandy Tumiwa's legal representative when met at Salemba Detention Center, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (30/7).

1. Lessons Learned by Sandy Tumiwa

During his time in detention, Sandy admitted that he learned many valuable lessons. The soap opera actor Wulan pledged to become a better person so as not to repeat the same mistakes.

"Many (lessons). One of them is acceptance. Sincerely, it means sincerity cannot be expressed. Sincerity is like looking back, that's called sincerity. It means we have to be able to accept whatever happens in our lives. The first is forgiveness. I have to be able to forgive others and myself for my mistakes, so that I can move forward gracefully," Sandy continued.

2. Diligent in Worship

During his time in detention, Sandy also became more religious. His worship never ceased. After he is released, he will continue his positive transformation.

"And starting from now, I will take the previous lessons to improve myself in the future. And tolerance, respecting each other, and another one is how to accept what happens. God willing, when it comes to worship, it's not about saying it, what matters is that we live it," Sandy concluded.
