Opposed by Some People, Ustaz Yusuf Mansur Explains about MUI Fatwa on Friday Prayer at Home

Kapanlagi.com - The Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) issued a fatwa regarding the recommendation to perform prayers at home. This is triggered by the increasing concern over the spread of the coronavirus.

However, there are still many people who seem to not understand this fatwa. Ustaz Yusuf Mansur expressed his opinion about this fatwa from MUI.

1. Not Praying in the Mosque

"Yes, for the current situation, not praying in the mosque is more important than praying in the mosque. Because it concerns life, health, safety, it's dangerous," he said when contacted by phone on Wednesday (18/3).

"So don't worry, not praying in the mosque is equally important. So don't worry. It's okay not to go to the mosque. Because there are other rewards that cannot be obtained in normal situations," he added.

2. Follow Fatwa

He also spoke about the restriction of Friday prayers in the mosque. Ustaz Yusuf Mansur said that he follows the fatwa and believes that MUI (Indonesian Ulema Council) has carefully considered the fatwa.

"Yes, so it becomes only Dhuhr prayer. Because it closes the doors of potential harm, as the title of the principle suggests, it is more important than seeking benefits. We follow the fatwa of MUI, which is a gathering of knowledgeable scholars and experts from various fields," he concluded.
