There are Eight Cases of Corona in East Java, One of Them Died

Kapanlagi.com - The corona virus has now infected residents in several areas in Indonesia, including East Java. There have been eight people confirmed positive for COVID-19 in the area. One of the eight cases has even died.

Quoting Merdeka.com, on Wednesday (18/3/2020), the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indraparawansa, revealed that the number of People under Surveillance (ODP) currently amounts to 29 people. Meanwhile, the number of Patients under Surveillance (PDP) is 11 people.

"Today, the number of ODP is 29 people, the number of PDP is 11 people, while the positive Swab results (Corona), as we announced yesterday, there are six who were examined at the Tropical Disease Center Unair, and two positive cases were examined at Litbangkes Kemenkes," said Khofifah.

1. Patient Dies in Malang

Out of the eight cases found in East Java, two of them are from Malang. In fact, one of them was declared dead after receiving treatment at Saiful Anwar Hospital (RSSA) Malang.

Previously, there were indeed 10 patients suspected of being infected with corona in Malang. Out of that number, two of them died. However, only one of them tested positive for corona.

"Out of those 10, two died, one tested positive, and the other tested negative. Meanwhile, the other six were declared negative, and the results of the other two are still unknown," said the Chairman of the Re-Emerging Infectious Disease Team at RSSA Malang, Didi Chandradikusuma, when met on Wednesday (18/3/2020).

2. Medical History

Didi further revealed that the deceased patient had other medical history. It can be said that the patient not only suffered from COVID-19. Medical personnel are also continuing to trace people who may have had contact with the positive patients.

"Next, we will track down contacts who have been in close proximity or direct contact with the positive patients. Specimen examinations will be conducted at Balitbangkes," he added.

Meanwhile, the other patients who are still being treated at RSSA have shown signs of improvement. Their condition also shows positive progress.
