Photo in Viral Election Ballot Because of Funny Pose, Turns Out It's Komeng's Own Desire

Kapanlagi.com - Comedian Alfiansyah Komeng became the center of attention in the 2024 Election because his unique photo appeared on the ballot for the Regional Representative Council (DPD) election in West Java.

Jarwo Kwat, Komeng's close friend, shared how Komeng chose the photo to be displayed on the DPD RI West Java ballot. Jarwo said that Komeng wanted to showcase his characteristic as a comedian.

"He told me about his photo, it's not a problem for the West Java KPUD, it's different from others. 'As a comedian, I want to show my uniqueness like this,' he said," said Jarwo Kwat when contacted on Wednesday (14/2/2024).

"As far as I know, it's Komeng's own desire, to be different from other candidates in the DPD. So it becomes attractive. Well, it's unique. The photo is comical on the ballot," added Jarwo Kwat.

Jarwo said that the viral photo of Komeng on the ballot paper was known by fellow comedians. In fact, he recounted the confession of one voter who was surprised to find Komeng's face on the ballot paper.

"Everyone already knows, it's trending on Twitter. Everyone is in an uproar, and it turns out Komeng is running for a position in the Regional Representative Council. There's also a friend in Bekasi who told me that when the mothers opened the ballot paper, they saw 'Hey, it's Komeng'. They immediately voted for him," said Jarwo Kwat.

Jarwo admitted to being surprised by Komeng's decision to run for office. Nevertheless, he accompanied Komeng when he registered as a candidate for the Regional Representative Council in West Java.

"At the beginning of the registration, he registered as a senator or representative for West Java, just like me, at the Bandung Election Commission, West Java," he said.

"It was surprising to find out that he was participating in this year's election as a candidate for the Regional Representative Council in West Java," he added.

2. Candidate for DPD Member

According to Jarwo's knowledge, Komeng had never shown any interest in politics before. Komeng claims that his candidacy as a member of DPD RI West Java does not come from a party route.

"He argues that DPD is personally independent, so not bound by any party. It's more freedom to fight in Senayan," concluded Jarwo.
