Plea Touching the Past with Irish Bella, Ammar Zoni: Not Offending Anyone

The defense note or plea read by Ammar Zoni in the drug case trial at the Central Jakarta District Court has sparked heated discussions. This is because Ammar mentioned his past marital story with Irish Bella in the defense document.

This move is considered by some as an inappropriate action given that his ex-wife has started a new life. Ammar Zoni finally spoke up to clarify the contents of the document.

He emphasized that what is stated in the plea is merely a part of the record of his life journey that truly happened without intending to corner anyone personally.

"What I talked about is in accordance with what happened back then. I have mentioned from the beginning that my life journey has been like that. I think my friends also have documentation from the start that I have shared," said Ammar Zoni when met by KapanLagi at the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday (4/9/2026).

"I made my plea in such a way that it does not offend anyone. And I have even said I apologize if anyone feels offended by my plea," added Ammar Zoni.

Ammar explained that the plea was purely constructed as a legal basis before the panel of judges. He realizes that his status as a public figure makes technical matters in the trial broaden into consumption by the general public.

"And my plea is not merely for public consumption, in fact, it is intended to be presented to the judge. But fundamentally, because I am a public figure, it inevitably becomes news everywhere. But I did not intend at all to offend my past. What my ex-wife has done, and so on," said Ammar.

Although the Public Prosecutor (JPU) maintains its demand for a nine-year prison sentence and rejects his defense, Ammar chooses to be supportive of his ex-wife's new life. He reaffirms his support for Irish's marriage to her current husband, Haldy Sabri.

"And now she has her husband, and I support that as well. And it doesn't mean that I am cutting off ties or anything with her because, no matter what, she is the mother of my children. It can't be like that," he said.

On that occasion, Ammar also emphasized that there is no intention to disturb the already calm situation. For him, honesty in the trial is the most important thing to achieve justice for his future and for the children.

"And here, no one wants to intervene in the plea that I made. However, if the other party feels disturbed or feels intervened, then I apologize. But once again, I say that I have no intention of anything. You know," concluded Ammar.
