Angelina Sondakh's Portrait of the DPR in Her Time, Carried Away by the Current Until Losing Empathy

Around the year 2022, Angie mentioned that the parliament in her time could be considered 'dirty'. There was a game of power and interests, which should be for the people, but during her time as a member of parliament, Angie saw it become the interests of a few individuals and groups instead.

So if there is a member of parliament who truly wants to fight for the people's interests, they are likely to lose out, because all of this already has a system in place and has become a culture. "Well, if it has become a culture, it eventually becomes permissive, and always makes excuses, 'Ah it's already normal'," said Angie.

Angie herself feels that maybe she was still too young to see the truth back then. "In my first five years, I was still very idealistic. I fought for orangutans, I took steps to save the Earth, save the forest. But after that, I eventually got swept away by the current," said Angie.

Angie honestly said that all of this made her addicted. The more respect she received, the more she wanted to get. Especially at that time, Angie, who initially was just a member, then became the chairperson and later the deputy secretary-general. Angie admitted that at that time she was not strong in faith.

"I am still 27 years old, still have dreams and ambitions. And eventually lost empathy for the community, and thought more about what I have to get next. And in that way, I have to maintain my current position. Everything must be done, because many are heading that way while the path is only one. And there are so many waiting in line (to seize the position)," Angie shared.

When asked about the people's demand for the Asset Seizure Law to be enacted, Angie immediately agreed. This is all because she has felt the impact when her assets were seized, which made her learn and rise after gaining valuable lessons until she had a small business and understood what it feels like to queue to register a brand and BPOM. "It's a good lesson, if we are not given access to what should not belong to us," said the former wife of Adjie Massaid.

Angie admitted that all her assets were seized. What surprised Feni Rose, the host of Rumpi, was that no other suspects had their assets seized. Angie just laughed and said not to be jealous, then asked Feni to just ask the court about this. But Angie is grateful that maybe this is God's way of guiding her to seek only what is halal.
