Portrait of Fairuz A Rafiq's Story of Accidentally Buying Sacrificial Animals, Feeling Deceived

This happened when Fairuz A Rafiq was not yet Sonny Septian's wife. At that time, she admitted to choosing the wrong sacrificial animal.

"Once upon a time, when I was still a young girl, I was looking for a partner and it turned out that he (the cow) seemed weak. On the second day, he was still weak even after being fed. What did I give him? Why is he weak? Why is it like this?" she said when met in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (12/6/2024).

Fairuz only found out that her cow was actually sick when she arrived home. This certainly made the 38-year-old woman sad because her intention to sacrifice almost failed.

"It turns out the cow was sick. When it was sick, I was like 'what should I do?' It was really sad, especially since I had already spent a lot of money. At that time, I really wanted to sacrifice and felt so sad, like I was being deceived by Allah," she said.

When wanting to exchange the cow, Fairuz experienced rejection. The merchant insisted that the cow became sick after being bought by Fairuz and was still healthy when sold.

"But I thought, well, if it's sick, it can't be sacrificed. So, I had to go back there, argue again, and return it. The pain wasn't here, so it felt like there were many conflicts," he explained.

After a quite exhausting struggle, Fairuz was grateful because the cow was finally allowed to be exchanged. However, it made him slightly traumatized and afraid to directly buy sacrificial animals.

"But thankfully at that time, even though it had to go through a long and complicated process and was stressful, it eventually agreed to be exchanged. It's still my blessing despite having good intentions. Allah provides a way," he concluded.
