Behind the family's decision to cremate the remains of Sarwendah's father, there is a story about differing opinions and eternal love.
Sarwendah revealed that the choice of cremation was not a unilateral decision, but rather a result of a deep family discussion, especially between her parents.
Sarwendah openly shared that her late father and mother had different desires regarding the funeral process.
"So my parents did have a debate, it turns out. After my mom calmed down, she asked whether to bury or cremate, and I just followed along, looking for the best option," said Sarwendah when met at the Grand Heaven Funeral Home, West Jakarta, Wednesday (23/7/2025).
Sarwendah revealed that her father, during his lifetime, preferred cremation. Meanwhile, her mother initially wanted her husband to be buried. "It turns out Dad wanted to be cremated, Mom wanted him to be buried," she said.
This difference in wishes became a major consideration for the family. To resolve the differing opinions, the family conducted a survey and looked at locations for both options, both burial and cremation.
"But when we searched, looked at the place, it turns out Dad liked it if he was cremated," said Sarwendah. After considering and viewing the place, they concluded that cremation was the option that the deceased would likely prefer.
"And Mom also bought the double one, not wanting it either, at some point Mom wants it to be placed together," she said. The mother eventually had a big heart and agreed to the decision to be cremated, even having prepared a double urn as a symbol of the eternal love of her parents.
This decision aligns with Sarwendah's determination to provide the best in her father's final moments. For her, this is a form of gratitude and the highest respect for all that her father has given throughout his life. She also strives to ensure that every detail, including the coffin, is the best
"Definitely the best. I mean, this is my way of expressing gratitude to Dad for the last time. So I try to give the best of everything for Dad," said Sarwendah.
