Postponed to January 17, Inara Rusli's Party Regrets Virgoun's Absence in Royalty Lawsuit Hearing

Kapanlagi.com - The Central Jakarta District Court held the first hearing of the royalty lawsuit filed by Inara Rusli against Virgoun on Wednesday (11/3/2024). Inara Rusli was only represented by her legal counsel, while Virgoun and two other defendants were absent from the hearing. Julio Tambunan, Inara's legal counsel, regrets that the lead vocalist of Last Child band, along with the two other defendants, did not attend the hearing.

"We regret that neither Virgoun as the second defendant nor the third defendant were present, none of the defendants were present at all," Julio said after the hearing.

1. Postponed Hearing

Due to the absence of the defendants, the scheduled hearing for document submission has been postponed until January 17th. Julio revealed that although they do not know the exact reason for the defendants' absence, they should have received an official court summons.

"The defendants should have received a letter from the court and the Central Jakarta District Court, for reasons unknown. There has been no mediation yet, once there is an identity, a mediation agenda will be proposed," said Julio.

2. Joint Property

Regarding this lawsuit, it is based on the decision of the West Jakarta Religious Court which states that royalties are joint property. Although this decision is still in the process of appeal by Virgoun's party, it does not affect the ongoing lawsuit for wrongful acts at the Central Jakarta District Court.

"But what we can conclude is that the panel of judges has declared that the copyright is joint property and joint property requires agreement from both parties," he concluded.
