Proud Moment, Marcell Darwin's Child Can Read Short Surahs from the Quran

"His mother always teaches him to memorize short surahs, with daily targets. Before bed, there are short surah readings, and he can read Al-Ikhlas and others, at least 6-7 surahs," said Marcell Darwin when met in the Kemang area, South Jakarta, Monday (30/9/2024).

Although he does not use a specific Quran teacher, Marcell emphasizes the importance of religious education from an early age. He enrolled his child in Al-Ikhlas school to have a strong religious foundation. Marcell's goal is to ensure his child grows up with good religious knowledge, even if he will later attend other schools.

“Not everything comes from just the wife and also from school. I put him in Al Ikhlas school just for his foundation, so from a young age he is already familiar with the verses of the Quran, I want the best for my child. It’s okay if later on he moves to another school after elementary or middle school, what’s important is that he has a foundation when he is young,” he said. 

As a father, Marcell feels proud to see his child's development. According to him, seeing a child who is only 3 or 4 years old being able to read holy verses is a very happy thing. He believes that religious education is an important part of a child's growth.   “I feel more proud as a father, wow this child at the age of 3 or 4 can read verses, yes I’m happy,” he said.

Marcell also expressed that he does not want to force his child. Although his child is currently in an Islamic-based school, Marcell gives the freedom to choose other schools at the next level of education, as long as his child remains happy and does well.

“Now what’s important is that he has a guideline, whether he wants to move to elementary, middle, or high school, it’s up to me to support, I don’t want to force, what’s important is that he likes it and will do well,” he concluded.
