Razman Nasution Shed Tears Receives Support from Street Musicians

The atmosphere in front of the North Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (02/9/2025) looked different. Amid the tension leading up to the verdict in the defamation case against him, lawyer Razman Arif Nasution was unexpectedly surprised by the support of a crowd.

This emotional moment occurred just before Razman entered the courtroom to hear the verdict on the complaint filed by his rival, Hotman Paris Hutapea. Several people claiming to be street musicians held a rally, demanding that the lawyer be freed from all charges.

Banners of support were displayed, voicing their belief in the innocence of the 55-year-old lawyer. Witnessing this action, Razman, who had briefly given a speech from atop a car, could not hold back his emotions and shed tears.

Razman admitted that he did not know at all the people who came to give him moral support. According to him, the sympathy came purely from the grassroots community who have followed his actions all this time.

"I actually shed tears. By Allah, I do not know them; it turns out these street musicians have been monitoring the figure of Razman, in the case he is currently facing, and the way I defend my client," he said when met at the North Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (02/9/2025).

More than just oration, his supporters even created a special song for him. Razman admitted that he has been sent a recording of the song and feels that the message within it is very touching to his heart.

"I heard and I was sent, and I remember a little. It means they say Razman never fades, I am touched and of course, all of this has a way of people wanting to belittle Razman. But Allah elevates him with sympathy from the lower ranks," he said.

As is known, the feud between these two famous lawyers has entered its final chapter. Razman Arif Nasution is being prosecuted by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) with a two-year prison sentence and a fine of Rp200 million for alleged defamation.

This case began from a report by Hotman Paris on May 10, 2022. Razman was charged under Article 45 Paragraph 3 in conjunction with Article 27 Paragraph 3 of the ITE Law as well as Articles 310 and 311 of the Criminal Code after being accused of defaming Hotman related to a sexual harassment issue involving Hotman's former personal assistant.

For Razman, support from this 'grassroots voice' is an important message for law enforcement. He even compared the support he received with that of the reporter. "Judges must see this, I haven't seen any songs dedicated to a Hotman. The grassroots voice must be heard, boss, it has to be from below," he concluded firmly.
