Remembering the Story of Entering Prison, Reza is Not Afraid of Being Beaten and Raped

Kapanlagi.com - In 2018, Reza Bukan was thrown into prison on a drug case. Then in August 2020, he was finally released after receiving the COVID-19 assimilation program relief.

To the media, Reza recounted his experience while in custody. This 39-year-old man apparently met with several other artists who were hit by similar cases, such as Augie Fantinus, Steve Emmanuel, and Sandy Tumiwa.

"When I first entered (Salemba), I didn't know anyone, but soon Augie, Steve Emanuel, Sandy Tumiwa were there. So in prison, you can tell who cares, who is a friend, who is not a friend," Reza said when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (29/9).

1. Helping Vicky Prasetyo

As is known, not long ago Vicky Prasetyo also experienced the coldness of the prison floor due to a defamation case. Knowing this, Reza was not hesitant to extend his help.

"Vicky is one of those who cares. When I entered prison, he contacted me, sent me assistance, I was extremely surprised at that time. He said, 'Za, this is food for you'. Wow, thank you so much, I could taste chicken, delicious food. So when I heard that Vicky entered, well, he is already quite senior in Salemba, I asked someone to prepare three servings of rice cakes to be given to Vicky. From there, I sent him food every morning," Reza continued.

2. Afraid of Rape and Beating

Reza does not deny that initially he was afraid of the myths about people who are entering prison for the first time. However, after experiencing it, it turned out that all his worries were completely unfounded.

"Well, as a newbie, it's natural to be surprised because our minds are already so scary, in prison you will be beaten, raped, injected, but it all depends on us. If we are humble, not arrogant, those people will also, those people, what can I say, are chosen ones who enter Salemba because God has a great plan for us inside here. If we are sensitive to the signs, we will definitely become gold outside," Reza concluded.
