Revealed: Nino Once Wore Fake Shoes in RAN's Music Video 'First Impression'

The music group RAN, consisting of Rayi, Asta, and Nino, has some exciting news for their fans. They decided to remake the music video of their legendary debut song titled First Impression.

This step was taken as part of the celebration leading up to their 20th anniversary in the Indonesian music industry. The decision to remake this music video turned out to have quite a unique reason. RAN wants to have the visual asset of the song on their own official YouTube channel.

This is because the original music video released nearly two decades ago is not stored on their official group account due to differences in digital distribution systems at that time. "Actually, it's not a new music video, but a remake of a music video that was released previously, First Impression," said Nino to Kapanlagi.com recently.

Nino explained in more detail that in 2007, the YouTube platform had not yet become the main outlet it is today. As a result, their original music video was uploaded by other accounts instead of their own official RAN channel. This prompted them to create a new version that is visually very similar to the original.

"To be honest, the original music video is not on our YouTube channel. It's not on our official channel. Back then, when RAN first appeared, YouTube wasn't like it is now," explained Nino.

In the process of making it, RAN worked hard to maintain the authenticity of details from the old video to the new video. From the clothes worn to the iconic movements in the clip, everything was made as similar as possible. However, there is one interesting fact revealed by Nino regarding the shoes he wore in the remake version of the music video.

Nino openly apologized to one of the famous shoe brands for using imitation or knock-off products again for the sake of total similarity. He reminisced about the early days of his career when their budget was very limited as students to buy rare original items.

"Sorry Nike, back in 2007 when we released that, we probably didn’t have any income yet, still college kids and couldn’t afford to buy original shoes. I wanted to wear the same shoes, so I searched around and found a post selling those shoes, it was a knock-off again," said Nino.

Although he initially used imitation items at the beginning of his career, Nino feels grateful because after the song exploded, RAN actually got the opportunity to officially collaborate with the brand. The remake of this music video has become a very memorable nostalgia for the three members. "We started our career, maybe I personally at that time used shoes that weren't official. But not long after the MV Pandangan Pertama, RAN actually collaborated with Nike for real," concluded Nino.
