Richard Lee Not Detained Despite Being a Suspect

The Metro Jaya Police provided the latest information regarding the legal case involving the suspect Dr. Richard Lee. After undergoing a lengthy examination process in front of investigators, the legal status and follow-up actions for Richard have now been decided by the police.

Richard was present to comply with the police summons on Thursday accompanied by his legal advisory team around 10:30 AM WIB. The examination process was intensive to delve deeper into the matter currently being handled in the Metro Jaya Police investigation room on Thursday (19/2/2026).

The Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, explained that during the examination, the investigators grilled DRL with dozens of questions. Although the examination ended at night, DRL was only allowed to leave the location shortly after the administrative process was completed.

"No detention was made against the suspect DRL, and he is required to report regularly. In addition, the investigation process continues to be conducted professionally and proportionally," said the Head of Public Relations to the media crew on Friday (20/2/2026).

The police emphasized that every action taken against DRL has been through careful consideration. The decision not to detain him is based on applicable legal regulations and the principle of legality upheld by the investigative team.

"Investigators make decisions independently and refer to the principles of legality, professionalism, proportionality, and accountability," explained Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto.

Currently, the main focus of the investigative team is to complete the case files so they can be immediately submitted to the next stage. The police are committed to concluding this investigation as quickly as possible so that it can be directly examined by the prosecution.

"Investigators will complete the case files and immediately send them to the public prosecutor to finalize the investigation process that has already started. We ensure that the entire process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulations," he stated.

This is Richard's first time attending the examination. Previously, Richard missed the police summons because he claimed to be ill for the past month.
