Ridwan Kamil and Atalia Praratya's First Divorce Hearing, Judge Suggests Mediation

In this hearing, the main agenda is to examine the completeness of documents from the legal representatives of the plaintiff and the defendant. Lawyers from both sides also discussed with the panel of judges regarding the schedule for the next hearing, including the mediation plan that will be the focus of the next meeting.

"(For) the initial hearing earlier, as usual, we check the completeness of the documents, the powers of attorney are also checked to see if this is indeed an advocate or not, and from which organization they come. Then after the hearing, we are directed to the mediation room to meet with the mediator, and we will set up the date (see the timing) for when we will carry out the mediation," said Wenda at the Bandung Religious Court, Wednesday (17/12/2026).

Ridwan Kamil's legal representative, Wenda Aluwi, explained that after the administrative examination is completed, they are directed to the mediation room to determine the timing for the follow-up meeting. According to her, there is still a possibility for both parties to reconcile during the mediation process, as divorce procedural law allows for this if the lawsuit is withdrawn by the plaintiff.

"Because there is still a possibility for that, since this is a hearing for family matters, divorce, for example, it will be decided by the court tomorrow, but it can also be withdrawn by the plaintiff, it stops. That is indeed how the procedural law works. So it can happen at any time. We just pray for the best for the parties (Atalia and Ridwan Kamil)," he explained.

Meanwhile, Atalia Praratya's lawyer, Debi Agusfriansa, said that her client respects the court process, but is still waiting for an agreement on the schedule with Ridwan Kamil for the presence of each party at the upcoming mediation stage.

"Later it will be agreed upon together, because we also have to match the time with the principal. Yes, the principal will attend the mediation. If our reason cannot be answered because it has become the subject of the lawsuit and as regulated by law, it cannot be published," said Debi.

The schedule for the continuation of the divorce hearing will be held on January 21, 2026, with a mediation agenda at the Bandung Religious Court. Both parties are expected to attend in person at this stage to better understand the divorce process and the potential for a mutual decision.
