On his 34th birthday, actor Randy Pangalila feels he doesn't need any special gifts. Amidst his busy career and roles as a husband and father, Randy only asks for time alone with his wife, Chelsey Frank, as a form of celebration he desires this year.
"Just full of gratitude. God has given many blessings, good health, and an amazing family. So that's it," said Randy when met in the Ragunan area of South Jakarta recently.
For him, true happiness is having a harmonious family and excellent health. Although birthdays are usually associated with gifts, Randy prefers to ask for quality time with his wife. "I always ask my wife that for sure on my birthday or her birthday, what we want is just time together," said Randy.
In the midst of a busy schedule, moments to enjoy together are very precious. Randy and Chelsey are indeed both busy, especially Randy who is currently occupied with a new web series project, brand ambassador duties, and other endorsement activities. "I am also very busy, there are other preparations as well. Well, we are grateful for all of that," he said.
Randy feels that time with his family is a priority, even if it has to be squeezed in amid his busyness. "So on my birthday, I just asked for something like, 'let's make time,' just the two of us, whether it's dinner or something else," he revealed.
For Randy, simple moments like having dinner together or spending time with casual conversation are the greatest forms of appreciation he can enjoy with Chelsey on his special moments. That's why he feels there's no need for anything extravagant to celebrate his birthday.
Currently, managing time with family has become a challenge for Randy, considering his busy schedule. "Right now, it’s quite packed, but I have to be grateful," he said. The web series project and brand ambassador collaboration limit his time for family.
Since they rarely meet in person, Randy and Chelsey often communicate through video calls. "Sometimes we do video calls, or she (Chelsey) sends videos of the kids playing, or voice notes, sometimes the kids like to chat in the voice notes," he explained.
Randy realizes that this busyness is a blessing, but he also strives to maintain closeness with his wife and children. Although simple, communication through technology becomes the bridge of their love amidst a busy routine. "I’m on set, so I just reply like that," he said.
