Teh Novi's Story about the Chaos of Agus Salim's 1.5 Billion Donation, Disappointment over Lack of Transparency

Kapanlagi.com - YouTuber Pratiwi Noviyanthi, affectionately known as Teh Novi, expressed her shock and disappointment after discovering that part of the donation funds raised for Agus Salim's treatment, a victim of a acid attack, were instead used for non-medical needs.

Teh Novi recounted that the donation of IDR 95.8 million, which was supposed to be allocated for Agus's eye recovery, was actually used by his family to pay off debts.

"On the way, we asked about the IDR 95 million, IDR 95.8 million, what was that money for? It turned out that the money was for paying off house debts," said Novi during a press conference in the Kuningan area of South Jakarta on Monday (28/10/2024).

1. No Transparency

The total donations successfully collected for Agus reached IDR 1.5 billion, thanks to the help of Teh Novi and support from the Denny Sumargo Podcast which provided a platform for Agus. However, the misuse of funds made Novi feel responsible to the donors to ensure that the funds were used appropriately.

This disappointment deepened because Agus's family, who requested that the funds be sent directly to Agus's account, did not provide transparency in the use of the money. According to Novi, the family had assured that the funds would be managed honestly for Agus's treatment.

"I was shocked, because what, I asked for help, and I felt this was my priority because this is for his eye surgery (Agus). So he can see as he used to," explained Novi.

2. Transferred to the Foundation's Account

Finally, a new agreement was reached to transfer the funds to the account of Novi's foundation, Rumah Peduli Kemanusiaan, so that the management of the funds could be more controlled. This is expected to ensure Agus's treatment at Jakarta Eye Center (JEC) can be carried out according to his medical needs.

"On the 11th, we immediately agreed on two important points, Agus's treatment at JEC with the donation funds, with the agreement that most of it would be transferred to the foundation's account," revealed Gerry, Novi's colleague who is also involved in managing the donation funds.

Teh Novi emphasized that this donation initiative was purely done so that Agus could receive the best care. However, now this good intention has ended in turmoil, after Agus reported Teh Novi on charges of defamation, sparking a new controversy between the two.
