Ruben Onsu Converts to Islam After 4 Years Guided by Habib Usman

Kapanlagi.com - Ruben Onsu has finally revealed a significant decision in his life, which is to embrace Islam after a long process. He stated that this decision was not instant, but rather the result of years of searching and guidance.

"Habib Usman has accompanied me for four years. I asked him many questions. So before I had the conviction I have now as a Muslim," said Ruben Onsu when met in the Karang Tengah area, South Jakarta, on Friday (11/4/2025).

This spiritual process led Ruben to the desire to deeply understand Islam. He felt a sense of peace from the explanations provided by Habib Usman, the husband of Kartika Putri.

"I delved deeper, wanting to learn even more. So all my questions were answered by the habib without hurting, without judging, and the process was just right for me," he said.

1. Finding the Right One in the Heart

Ruben is also not careless in choosing the figure who guides him. He feels he must find someone who can truly understand his restlessness and curiosity.

"That's why, when I chose Habib Usman, there were also several things I had to consider. For me, we really have to find the right fit so that it doesn't clash with our questions," he said.

His confidence in Habib Usman grew stronger after many deep conversations. The answers he received always felt touching and made him think further.

"When choosing Habib Usman, I just asked my questions, and he answered all of them," said Ruben.

With Habib Usman, Ruben found comfort in getting to know Islam. He admitted to experiencing a lot of enlightenment in the process.

"When choosing Habib Usman, I asked questions and Habib Usman answered all the questions without igniting any fire, so, oh yes... Oh yes... Those enlightenments were truly profound for me, this movement is the same with anyone, Habib Usman is good with everyone," he said.

2. Curiosity

According to Ruben, Habib Usman is a warm and sincere figure. He felt that sincerity from the very beginning of their interaction.

"He is very friendly to everyone. My eyes just glanced, so good in front it’s red inside I assess the person who became my mentor back then after that it’s done," he said.

Ruben is also very open in the learning process, especially regarding religion. He does not feel ashamed to ask even about basic things.

"I ask questions with my curiosity and then Habib Usman answers," he said.

There is no specific schedule in his learning process, as everything flows naturally. He learns Islam in a way that makes his heart happy.

"No, it’s like this, whatever it is I definitely ask him. So he actually encourages me to be happy, until I find the point where Islam is light, yes, Islam is beautiful," Ruben explained.

3. Worshiping with Sincerity

Ruben chose not to announce his decision to the public immediately. He wants to ensure that everything has been firmly established before speaking to the public.

"He guided me, without getting tired, all my curiosities he always answered, in the moments before entering, those questions I always asked, his answers were very simple, calm, so if many say that he just converted to Islam during Eid, that's wrong, he has been doing it since before," he said.

Ruben's main focus right now is to worship sincerely and wholeheartedly. He wants to go through everything earnestly without distractions.

"But I just released that so I can focus on my worship, focus on living it, I want to focus on worship without hurting either in speech, words, people are not free from mistakes for sure. But I want to go through all of that with a focus on my prayers, my fasting, which must be done during Ramadan," he concluded.
