The effort of Ruben Onsu to maintain closeness with his children often faces quite painful technical obstacles. An incident during a school event for his child serves as evidence of how difficult it is for Ruben to gain proper access as a father.

"It was already mentioned before during the ballet event for his child, it was already conveyed that Ruben had to queue just to take a photo. Wait outside. They thought he would exit through here, but it turned out he exited through another door with someone else. That's how it is. So it shouldn't be like that," said Minola Sebayang when met in the Bangka area, South Jakarta, Monday (1/6/2026).

Ruben Onsu's legal counsel also questioned the legal logic regarding asset ownership that is currently a subject of debate. Minola emphasized that banking has strict rules regarding collateral that is joint property of husband and wife.

"Our purpose in providing the letter is to remind. Because according to our interpretation, 'fully surrendering into the power of the first party after this deed is signed' means all documents still held by the second party are declared as part of the first party, surrendered. Where is the mistake?" asked Minola.

Minola also explained that under banking law, the mortgage house assets cannot be solely in one party's name without the partner's consent. This is because the house was purchased and mortgaged during the course of the marriage.

"And when we communicated and wrote a letter to BCA, the credit applicant was not only Ruben. Not only Ruben. Of course, because the collateral is joint property. So the bank will definitely ask for approval from our partner when we use our assets as collateral for the loan," explained Minola.

This issue became more complicated when the communication that Ruben Onsu built through text messages was often ignored. Minola revealed that the message sent by her client in April only received a response one month later.

"The chat in April was replied to in May. Because there were words from S himself saying, 'please contact your own child.' That is the basis. So it's better not to turn it around and talk to S," said the lawyer.

Ruben Onsu, who is now 42 years old, feels as if he is being toyed with by a bureaucracy that is deliberately created to limit his movements. Minola sees an inconsistency between the statements of Sarwendah and the reality on the ground."Let's sit down and address the issue. Don't be contaminated because perhaps it involves women. Ruben said that he cannot meet his children, he has difficulty meeting his children. Before the divorce happened, there was a commitment for the children to gather with their father 2-3 days a week, but this has not been realized," said Minola.
