Sarwendah and Ruben Onsu Mediation Hearing on Child Custody, Focus on Finding a Middle Ground

Kapanlagi.com - The lawsuit process of Ruben Onsu against Sarwendah resumed with a mediation agenda at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (22/7/2026). Sarwendah attended in person accompanied by her legal representatives, Chris Sam Siwu and Abraham Simon.

Before entering the mediation room, Sarwendah chose not to comment much. "What is certain is to pray, yes, hoping for the best for all the children," said Sarwendah when met at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (22/7/2026).

She emphasized focusing on the interests of her children in every step taken. Her hope is that the mediation process can produce the best decision for the children.

The mediation session took place at the South Jakarta District Court as a continuation of the civil case regarding child custody between Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah. This agenda serves as an initial opportunity to bring both parties together in the mediation room.

Sarwendah attended with her two attorneys, Chris Sam Siwu and Abraham Simon. Outside the courtroom, she maintained her statements to the media and reiterated her hope that the decision would ultimately favor the best interests of the child.

The mediation on Wednesday (22/7/2026) marked the continuation of the legal process after the lawsuit was filed. The presence of the parties and their attorneys opened a formal communication space under the facilitation of the mediator judge.

Sarwendah's attorney, Abraham Simon, referred to mediation as a space to find a balanced solution for both parties, and the discussions will be adjusted according to the requests of the plaintiff.

"It depends, because Ruben is the one filing the lawsuit, so we will see what their requests are, right? Whether a middle ground can be reached, that's how it is. This mediation is meant to be a win-win solution, not just what we want, you know," explained Abraham Simon.

Abraham also emphasized that the case brought to court was not triggered by personal issues between Sarwendah and Ruben. According to him, the matter that arose was more about communication.

"Actually, I have already stated, there is no problem. This is just a communication issue. So basically, there is no personal grudge, I don't think my client has any. Everything is for the best interests of the child," asserted Abraham Simon.

On the same occasion, Chris Sam Siwu explained that this meeting was the first mediation session. He mentioned that the results of the meeting would be brought back for discussion with the client before determining the next steps.

"This is just the first day in the mediation agenda, right? So we will wait for what the communication with the mediator judge will be, and we will discuss it again with the client. The client is also present to see directly, to hear directly, and we hope to achieve the best outcome, okay?" concluded Chris Sam Siwu.
