Sari Eliminated in Dangdut Academy 8, Lesti Reminds Singers to Embody the Song

Sari's journey in Dangdut Academy 8 had to come to an end after being eliminated in the broadcast on Saturday (18/7). Before the results were announced, her performance of the song "Kabut Biru" received several notes from the judges, ranging from vocal technique to emotional expression while singing.

Before Sari performed, coach Melly Lee revealed the condition of her protégé. According to Melly, Sari's confidence decreased because she performed last, even though her rehearsal went well.

"Yes. Earlier JR was already good. Maybe it was the atmosphere, performing last. So, her confidence dropped a bit. In fact, during the rehearsal, everything went perfectly, nothing was missed. Nothing at all," said Melly Lee.

Rina Nose also noted that this situation is something that often happens on stage. Meanwhile, Gilang Dirga mentioned that the team had tried to lighten the atmosphere to help Sari feel calmer before performing.

However, Soimah emphasized that performing last cannot be used as an excuse. She cited other participants who were still able to perform their best even when they were last in line.

"Yes, Diva performed last as well but she was able to show it, she was still good. Her energy was still there. So, performing last cannot be an excuse because there are several kids who have proven that. So, indeed, one must be ready at all times," said Soimah.

Soimah then explained that Sari actually has a good foundation as a singer. According to her, Sari has vocal quality, style, and supporting appearance. However, she assessed that the participant still lacks the ability to convey emotion when performing a song."Because you have a good vocal. You are beautiful. You have a good style. But it seems like you can't feel it yet, you don't have the feel, you don't have the feeling for how to sweeten the song. How to, um, there's no sensitivity to blend all of that," she said.

She also highlighted Sari's expression, which was deemed not natural. According to Soimah, the expression displayed actually looked forced, making it unable to convey the meaning of the song to the audience."The expression was blank at the beginning. Then in the second song, you tried to show expression. But it was too... like a kindergarten child. You haven't reached the feel yet. So it looks forced. Your gaze too. And besides that, the tempo was also quite bad. And because your singing dragged on too much, it's such a shame. Also, some of the high notes were missed," she continued.

In line with Soimah, Lesti reminded that a singer is not only required to have vocal abilities but also must be able to bring the story contained in the song to life."Singing is not just about singing; it must be felt. Because as Mother often says, we are storytellers but using melodies, something like that," said Lesti.Lesti also advised all participants who are still in the competition not to waste the opportunity of being in the Top 42 of Dangdut Academy 8. According to her, many other participants wish to be in that position."Because once again, for friends who are fighting in Dangdut Academy 8, prepare your mentality to enter the top 42. There are many friends out there who are sad, who are crying wanting to be in your position, so don’t waste that opportunity, okay friends?" she said.

Meanwhile, Wika Salim is trying to boost Sari's spirit. She believes that Sari actually has all the qualities to be a good singer, but her self-confidence still needs to be improved."I think I want to remind Sari again. So that Sari can be more enthusiastic, dear. Because all the feedback has been conveyed. You have to believe in yourself and you have to know that you have the ability. You have all the qualities. So don’t be disheartened, don’t let seeing other friends make you lose confidence," said Wika.

She also closed her comments by giving motivation for Sari to continue developing her strengths."Everyone has their own strengths, dear. So you need to be able to believe in and be proud of yourself. So that it can come out naturally. Stay motivated, Sari. Come on, don’t be weak, don’t be weak. You have to be enthusiastic," concluded Wika Salim.
