Mikha Tambayong Realizes Her Dream to Duet with Rayi Putra

The collaboration between Mikha Tambayong and Rayi Putra in the song Jalan Tengah becomes a special moment for both of them. This project reunites them after about 18 years since their first meeting, when Mikha was only 13 years old and Rayi was already widely known as a member of the music group RAN.

Mikha reminisces that when they first met, she was just starting her career in the entertainment industry. Meanwhile, Rayi, along with RAN, had become one of the most recognized music groups with several popular songs. It’s no wonder that the opportunity to duet with Rayi became a dream that finally came true.

"Yes, yes, after eighteen years we meet again and I mean we finally work together, we finally have a project together. Oh, that's so sweet. If I had to say my first impression, it’s that Kak Rayi hasn’t changed. After almost 20 years, he hasn’t changed," said Mikha Tambayong when met at the MyMusic Records office in South Jakarta, Friday (17/7/2026).

"And yes, for me, it’s definitely a dream come true because, as I said, the first time I saw Kak Rayi, he was like an idol figure," she added.

Not only did they duet, but Mikha also admitted to enjoying the moment of watching Rayi go through the recording process. According to her, the experience felt special because she grew up listening to RAN's songs."And for me, hearing Kak Rayi's voice, when I saw Kak Rayi recording, it was just exciting to watch because this iconic voice, Kak Rayi, we can say is one of the iconic voices in Indonesia. And I grew up listening to his songs. So being able to collaborate and see Kak Rayi take vocals in person was an incredibly enjoyable experience for me," said Mikha.

On the other hand, Rayi Putra also expressed his happiness in being able to work with Mikha. For him, the opportunity to write songs and duet with Mikha was an experience he did not want to miss.

"That's right, yes, from my side, I'm really happy, I mean, even though I don't follow all of Mikha's films or anything like that, but clearly Mikha is one of the household names in the music and entertainment industry in Indonesia. So to be able to collaborate with her, when I was invited to write a song for Mikha and even duet with her, is an opportunity that I won't waste," said Rayi Putra.

For Mikha, this collaboration also proves that the figure she has admired since her teenage years is indeed worthy of admiration. After getting to know Rayi better during the production process of Jalan Tengah, she became even more convinced that she did not make a mistake in making the RAN personnel her role model.

"I grew up listening to his songs and idolizing him for sure. And now that I've gotten to know him personally, working together, it turns out I was not wrong to idolize him, guys. Amen, amen," concluded Mikha Tambayong.
