Saykoji Enlivens Candi Darling's First Birthday Celebration, Held in Virtual Workshop Format

Kapanlagi.com - Since June 2019, the Djarum Environmental Service Foundation has introduced Siap Darling (Environmentally Aware Darling) through the Candi Darling (Environmentally Aware Darling) program. At the age of one, Candi Darling has successfully inspired thousands of young generations to join the Darling Squad.

The millennial generation, consisting of 1200 students from 238 campuses in Indonesia, have participated in tree planting actions in 4 temple and historical site areas in 3 provinces, namely DIY, Central Java, and East Java. The chosen locations are Prambanan Temple, Van Den Bosch Fortress, Ratu Boko Site, Ijo Temple, Kawah Ijen Nature Tourism Park, and Gedongsongo Temple Complex. So far, 11,653 plants and trees have been planted.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Siap Darling also continues to carry out positive activities by organizing Darling From Home, a virtual workshop and talk show that provides education for young generations to continue caring for and preserving the environment. Not only that, the one-year anniversary of Candi Darling was also celebrated virtually following the government's advice on physical distancing and avoiding crowds of people in one place.

At the one-year celebration event of Candi Darling, Saykoji was appointed as the performer. This famous rapper is known to be very passionate about the environment and has been involved in the Candi Darling program since 2019.

"This Candi Darling activity has touched me because it turns out that humans, including the younger generation, have a very important role in the sustainability of nature. Like when I planted trees in Prambanan last year, I really miss going back and seeing how the trees have grown. Well, I believe that the Candi Darling movement can create a strong bond between the younger generation and the environment, so that we will continue to do good things for the environment in the future," said Saykoji.

In this virtual ceremony, Candi Darling collaborated with the Head of the Cultural Heritage Preservation Office (BPCB) of Yogyakarta Special Region, Zaimul Azzah, and also Kebun Kumara. The event series began with a virtual ceremony featuring a talk show with Zaimul Azzah and Andovi Da Lopez.

The virtual ceremony was held on Saturday (27/6), followed by an advanced workshop on Wednesday (1/7) next. Through this talk show and workshop, participants' knowledge about the intricacies of the environmental conditions in Indonesia and good planting techniques were enriched. Later, workshop participants will receive the Darling From Home e-certificate distributed after the event.

"In order to maintain the balance of nature, we consistently strive to encourage the younger generation who are at home to always maintain the balance of nature and preserve the environment in their own ways, because a clean environment will certainly support a clean life in accordance with health protocols," said Mutiara Asmara, during the virtual ceremony celebrating the first year of Candi Darling, on Saturday (27/6).

"Of course, we hope that more and more young people will care about the environment and join Siap Darling, because they will be the ones who will enjoy any goodness they do today," added Tania Anggriani, Program Associate of Bakti Lingkungan Djarum Foundation.
