Sentenced to Two Years and Six Months in Prison, Mark Sungkar is Ready to Submit a Defense Note

Kapanlagi.com - Senior actor Mark Sungkar is sentenced to two years and six months in prison by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) in relation to the corruption case of the Pelatnas Triathlon funds. Mark Sungkar's lawyer, Fahri Bachmid, expressed great respect for and appreciation of the JPU's demand.

Therefore, Fahri Bachmid will submit a defense plea or plea in the trial scheduled for July 8, 2021.

"Thus, the defendant and the legal team will take it seriously by submitting a legal defense (Pledoi) in accordance with the trial agenda next week as determined by the Panel of Judges of the Central Jakarta Corruption Court, namely on July 8, 2021," said Fahri Bachmid to reporters on Thursday (1/7/2021).

1. Not Proven Guilty

Fahri Bachmid stated that based on the trial facts, the father of artists Shireen and Zaskia Sungkar has not been proven to have committed a criminal act in the case of the Pelatnas Triathlon funds.

"We, the legal team, disagree with the JPU's demand, because based on the trial facts, Mark Sungkar has not been proven legally and convincingly to have committed a criminal act as alleged by the JPU," said Fahri Bachmid.

2. Baseless Demands

Furthermore, Fahri Bachmid said that the prosecutor's demands are far from the actual facts. He reiterated that Mark Sungkar did not take a single penny from the Pelatnas fund.

"In our opinion, the prosecutor's demands are very 'imaginary' and far from the actual facts. These demands are baseless and do not adhere to the substantial spirit of justice. Mark Sungkar has never taken a single rupiah or benefited from anything as claimed by the prosecutor," said Fahri Bachmid.

"Throughout this process, Defendant Mark Sungkar has felt oppressed by the case and all the accusations against him. We believe that the Central Jakarta Tipikor Court will act objectively, fairly, and impartially. These demands are the subjective right of the prosecutor, and it will be the judge of the Central Jakarta Tipikor Court who will make a fair decision on this case. We genuinely believe that Mark Sungkar will receive justice," he concluded.
