Series of Deswita Maharani's Portraits Reveal Beloved Father's Disease, Stage 4 Cancer

Yusuf Affendy, the father of actress Deswita Maharani, was buried at Taman Pemakaman Umum (TPU) Menteng Pulo, South Jakarta, on Saturday (18/5/2024). Deswita revealed that her father had been suffering from the disease for a long time. "Actually, he has been sick for a long time, so during Ramadan, he really couldn't function properly," Deswita said tearfully at TPU Menteng Pulo, South Jakarta, on Saturday (18/5/2024).

His father's health condition worsened and his skin started to turn yellow. Initially, the family thought that these symptoms were signs of liver disease.

"Gradually, his body started turning yellow. We thought that because we are not familiar, yellow skin is a symptom of liver disease. But he didn't want to go to the doctor, he refused to be persuaded to go to the hospital," she said.

"He couldn't participate in the Eid prayer, he wasn't happy during Eid. Finally, he agreed to go to the hospital but with one condition, only then he agreed to go to the hospital," Deswita said.

Father Deswita's condition continued to worsen, prompting the family to decide to take him to a hospital with more complete equipment, namely RSPAD Gatot Subroto. There, the doctor suspected that Deswita's father had cancer.

"When we moved to RSPAD, the doctor suspected that my father had cancer. And it turned out to be true, one day after being checked, the cancer was already in stage 4. It turned out that the cancer had spread everywhere, even to the small intestine," she said.

Deswita said that on the last night before his father passed away, he appeared to be in a lot of pain but did not make any groaning sounds.

"That night he seemed to be in a lot of pain. He didn't even make any sound or groan. The nurses and doctors had done their best," concluded Deswita Maharani.
