Shareefa Daanish Learns to Sew for the Character Rahma in the Film 'CERITA LILA'

The actress nicknamed the queen of horror in Indonesia, Shareefa Daanish, greets her fans again through her latest film titled CERITA LILA. In this film directed by Bobby Prasetyo, Shareefa is cast to portray the character Rahma, who has a very dark background.

Although she has often starred in similar genre films, Shareefa admits that she still feels a sense of horror when she first saw the trailer for this film. Interestingly, the 43-year-old woman claims to be a very fearful person in real life, even though she often plays ghosts.

"It actually feels like when I saw the trailer earlier, it was kind of a thrilling horror, right? Because actually, for those who like it, they might have heard in interviews that I am actually a fearful person," said Shareefa Daanish when met in the Kasablanka area, South Jakarta, Wednesday (06/05/2026).

He considers the scary roles he takes as a medium to unleash his fearful side by scaring others through the big screen.

For the totality of her role as Rahma, Shareefa Daanish had to learn a new skill that she had never mastered before. She feels that every character she plays must add value or new skills to herself personally.

"The most specific thing for this character is that I learned to sew. Wow... because later it might be seen in the scene where this character Rahma will sew a few times. That's one of the considerations that I always take when choosing a character, that I can learn something from the character I portray," she explained.

Lutesha, who is also a co-star of Shareefa, shared her experience of feeling challenged by the script of this film. Unlike typical horror films, Lutesha feels that the story of LILA has a very extreme emotional escalation that made her have to repeat scenes multiple times.

"Initially, Mas Bopi was told like, oh there's this horror movie, oh let's get possessed again to become a fun ghost and all that. But when I read the script, wow... it’s really heavy! In terms of character, Tari's character is very emotional, truly a roller coaster," said Lutesha.

The collaboration between Shareefa Daanish, Lutesha, and Sara Wijayanto is expected to bring a new color to the Indonesian horror film industry. They agreed that the main strength of this film lies in the tragic story experienced by the family in the film.

Director Bobby Prasetyo emphasized that the horror in this film is not just about the appearance of supernatural beings. The great family tragedy becomes the core of the terror that the characters cannot escape from.

The film 'Cerita Lila' tells a supernatural journey about twin children named Lila and Lili who were murdered by their biological mother. The story focuses on Lila who tries to find her twin, Lili, in a different realm, which also brings deep mysteries and a sense of loss. This film will be released in theaters starting June 18, 2026.
