The divorce process between Sherina Munaf and Baskara Mahendra Putra will soon enter its initial stage at the South Jakarta Religious Court. “Mandatory. According to the law, attendance is indeed required because reconciliation must be attempted first,” said the spokesperson for the South Jakarta Religious Court, Suryana, when met at the South Jakarta Religious Court on Friday (January 17, 2025).

Suryana explained that the mediation process is the first step before the divorce proceeds to the next stage. The presence of both parties is mandatory according to the law and the Supreme Court Regulations on mediation in court.   “In the law, it is indeed mandatory to be present because they must be reconciled first. So in e-court or e-litigation cases, the parties must be present first during the peace efforts because reconciliation is required by law,” he explained.

Suryana added that after mediation is conducted, the next trial process will be carried out electronically through the e-court application. However, Sherina and Baskara must also be physically present during the evidence presentation.   “Then there is the Supreme Court Regulation regarding the mediation process in court, and after the question-and-answer session is completed, they are required to be present again during the evidence presentation. So during the evidence presentation, they both must also be present,” he clarified.

The mediation and evidence agenda is an important moment for the development of this case. For other hearings, including the submission of replies and rejoinders, the process will be conducted online.   “Well, there are two moments that the parties must attend. So later, for example, if the media wants to see the developments, it will most likely be the first hearing and the evidence hearing,” Suryana continued.

The lawsuit dated January 14, 2025, marks the official beginning of the divorce legal process between Sherina and Baskara. The panel of judges handling this case has also been determined, and the entire process is ensured to follow regulations.   “If it’s in the case forwarding information system, it’s already there. So when the case comes in, it shows who the panel of judges is and the court date has been set. God willing, the first hearing will be on Thursday, January 30,” concluded Suryana.
