Skipping Mediation, Court Orders Rachel Vennya to Meet Niko in Next Week's Hearing

Kapanlagi.com - Instagram influencer Rachel Vennya filed for divorce against Niko Al Hakim at the South Jakarta Religious Court. The first hearing with a mediation agenda was held today, Tuesday (2/2/2021).

Unfortunately, Rachel, as the plaintiff, did not attend the mediation hearing and was only represented by her legal counsel. Meanwhile, Nico, as the defendant, attended in person.

According to Supreme Court Regulation (PERMA) Number 1 of 2016, in mediation, the plaintiff and defendant are required to meet to proceed to the next process. Since Rachel Vennya did not attend the initial hearing, she was asked to attend the next hearing, which still has a mediation agenda.

"This morning, the hearing took place with the presence of the plaintiff's legal counsel. However, the plaintiff herself was not present because she has authorized her legal counsel. On the other hand, the defendant attended the hearing directly. The next agenda is still mediation because both the plaintiff and the defendant must attend the mediation," said Taslimah, the spokesperson of the South Jakarta District Court, when met at her office.

2. Ordered to Attend Next Week's Hearing

Rachel Vennya has been ordered to attend the mediation hearing next Tuesday (2/9/2021). Because if she doesn't, it means that she does not have good intentions to resolve the issue and is considered to disrupt the progress of the hearing.

"The reason for her absence is that she has authorized someone else. However, because the mediation process must be carried out, the principal or Rachel is ordered to attend in accordance with Supreme Court Regulation Number 1 of 2016. The principal party must attend the mediation process," emphasized Taslimah.
