Stepping Away from the Entertainment World, Epy Kusnandar Heals for 187 Days in Garut Without a Phone

Kapanlagi.com - Epy Kusnandar, a seasoned actor known for his distinctive characters, has just completed a six-month healing period in his hometown of Garut, West Java. After finishing rehabilitation last August 2024, Epy chose to distance himself from the hustle and bustle of the entertainment world and did not use a phone during this time.

"I was there for about 187 days, so more than six months. Healing, distancing myself from the noise and clamor of the entertainment world. I calmed myself. Thank God it’s over," Epy said when met in the Kapten Tendean area, Mampang, South Jakarta on Wednesday (12/11/2024).

During those 187 days, Epy completely avoided technology, especially his phone. According to him, this was done so he wouldn't easily get carried away by emotions when reading negative comments.

"During that time I didn’t hold a phone, didn’t hold anything because I tend to get carried away by emotions when reading negative comments," he explained.

Many assumed that the husband of Karina Ranau was being "kept away" from the outside world as a form of punishment. However, Epy explained that this was his personal choice.

"They say I'm in prison. I'm not in prison, but I imprisoned myself in my hometown to become self-aware for 187 days. Yes, thank God it worked," he said.

By giving up the use of his phone, Epy admits that he feels calmer. "If I were the one replying to messages on my phone, I might retaliate. That's why I chose not to hold a phone," he added.

During that time, he relied on others to help manage communication in the digital world. Even so, Epy couldn't completely avoid comments from netizens.

The 60-year-old man still reads some comments that sometimes hurt his feelings. "The most painful one is, 'Why do you look so old now?' I am indeed closer to the ground now, so I respond like that," Epy said while laughing.

However, those comments actually make him stronger to continue focusing on his healing journey. Far from technology, he feels an inner peace that he previously found difficult to achieve.

2. Ready to Return

"Calm down, before I rest peacefully. Like a practice of resting," explained Epy.

This healing period in his hometown is also used by Epy as a moment for self-reflection and connecting with nature. He spends a lot of time outdoors, enjoying the simplicity that is far from the entertainment routine.

"I feel more alive there, so I know better what is important and what can be let go," he revealed.

With the healing period almost over, Epy admits he is ready to return to the entertainment world with new energy. He is grateful for the support of family and friends who have faithfully supported him all this time.
