Suffering from a Rare Disease, 8 Portraits of Sulaiman, Oki Setiana Dewi's Son, Undergoing Stem Cell - A Form of Effort for Healing

Oki Setiana Dewi, who is studying in Egypt, had to return to Indonesia for several purposes. One of them is to undergo stem cell treatment for her youngest son, Sulaiman. It is known that Sulaiman suffers from a rare disease called Prader Willi Syndrome (PWS). Here are portraits of Sulaiman who has to undergo stem cell as an effort for healing.

PWS itself is a disease caused by a disorder in chromosomes or genetics. Stem cell is one form of treatment for PWS and this is the fifth stem cell treatment for Sulaiman.

Sulaiman Ali Abdullah has been diagnosed with PWS a few months after his birth. Due to this genetic disorder, Sulaiman had to be cared for in the NICU for months at the beginning of his life.

Because of this, Sulaiman had to drink breast milk using a tube inserted into his nose while he was still a baby. Sulaiman was born in 2020. It feels like just yesterday, now Sulaiman has turned 4 years old.

A number of fellow artists have expressed their support and encouragement to Sulaiman through posts from Oki Setiana Dewi. They also referred to Oki as a strong mother figure.

PWS itself is a genetic disorder that causes a number of physical, mental, and behavioral issues. Individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome tend to have difficulty controlling their weight.

According to the PWS Association of the United States, 1 in 8,000 to 1 in 25,000 people experience this syndrome. This syndrome has also been present since the child was born, but the diagnosis is often not visible

According to Medical News Today, there are several symptoms of PWS that can be seen in infants, including always feeling hungry, suboptimal physical growth, slow motor development, and slow verbal skills.

Previously, Sulaiman was invited by Oki to Egypt because Oki continued his studies at Al Azhar University, Cairo. Not only that, but Oki also preached there.
