Surprised by Sarwendah's Statement, Betrand: This is Not the Mother I Know

The conflict involving Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah is still a public concern. Amid the controversy arising from Sarwendah's live broadcast video, Betrand Peto, affectionately known as Onyo, finally spoke out about his feelings.

Ruben Onsu's adopted son admitted that he was surprised when he saw the video that was widely discussed on social media. In the broadcast, Sarwendah touched on the topic of child support and made a statement that then drew reactions from the public.

"I was shocked. I was shocked. I cried yesterday. I cried because I said, why could Mom say something like that, so heartless," said Onyo when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (8/6/2026).

Although feeling sad, the singer born in East Nusa Tenggara tried to understand the situation that occurred. According to him, it is possible that Sarwendah is in an emotionally difficult condition to control.

"Maybe I said that because the emotions were already out of control. Because if Mom really can't control her emotions anymore, just turn off the live. Turn off the live so that nothing like this happens," he said.

Onyo admitted that he cried when he was at the shooting location. At that time, he immediately contacted Ruben Onsu to provide support."No, I was more like 'stay strong'. I did tell Dad that I was crying at the shooting location, I even texted Dad that I was crying to stay strong. Dad has me too. We'll get through this together," he said.

In the midst of the ongoing conflict, Onyo continues to show his affection for Sarwendah. He even emphasized that he does not agree with the boycott calls that had emerged on social media."When Bunda made the clarification, I was already crying. I was already crying. This is not the Bunda I know," he said.

According to Onyo, the public should not judge too harshly because he believes the situation occurred due to unstable emotions. He hopes the issues at hand can serve as a lesson for all parties.

"As for the boycott issue, I do not agree, I do not agree. Don't think that just because I said that, it's only a situation where Bunda is just not in control, that's all," he concluded.
