Temporarily Pausing the 'ZAHRA' Soap Opera to Address Public Sentiments

Kapanlagi.com - Criticism against the Zahra soap opera not only resulted in the main cast change from Lea Ciarachel Fourneaux to Hanna Kirana, but also a change in the storyline to dampen negative sentiments from the public.

Regarding this matter, Indosiar decided to temporarily stop airing the soap opera. The production house needs time to rework the story to avoid further controversy.

"So we did ask for an evaluation not only regarding the replacement of talents, but also several issues that have caught public attention in the storyline. Last night was the final episode before the break. They need time to complete it so they can come up with a different story," said Deputy Chairman of KPI, Mulyo Hadi Purnomo, when contacted by KapanLagi.com on Saturday (5/6/2021).

1. Polygamy and Offered Morality

The mentioned story change is not about polygamy, but rather about domestic violence. After mediating with Harsiwi Achmad, the Director of Programs at Indosiar, it turns out there is a specific message why that plot is maintained.

"Regarding polygamy, they explained that there is a message that polygamy is not easy to do, it must be fair, and so on. We don't force polygamy because it is actually allowed in Islam. But we hope it doesn't become something common. Because some people still consider it sensitive," added Mulyo Hadi.

2. Zahra Undergoes Plastic Surgery

Zahra's soap opera, which is part of the Mega Series Suara Hati Istri, highlights the life of Zahra, the third wife of Mr. Tirta. In episodes 14 and 15, which aired on Friday night (4/6/2021), it is told that the car driven by Mr. Tirta and Zahra fell into a ravine and exploded.

When she woke up in the hospital, Zahra (now played by Hanna Kirana) was shocked to see that her face had changed after undergoing plastic surgery. In the next episode, it is briefly revealed that Zahra and her family are searching for Mr. Tirta, whose whereabouts are unknown after the accident.
