The Controversial Story of Oscar Lawalata Becoming Transgender, Mario Lawalata Reveals Their Mother Was Confused

Upon hearing this, Mario Lawalata, as their sibling, did not expect the video to become controversial as the main purpose of creating the content was to inspire the wider community.

"We created the YouTube channel not to go viral, chase viewers, or subscribers. Whether it is accepted or not, our intention is to share. It's up to the viewers. We didn't expect this, as it was far beyond our expectations," said Mario Lawalata when met in Tendean, South Jakarta, on Friday (28/8).

In the YouTube channel The Lawalatas, their mother, Reggy Lawalata, also expressed her feelings when she found out that her son decided to become transgender. Reggy Lawalata admitted to feeling confused because her firstborn chose the path of becoming a woman.

"The ones who told us were actually other people. We were surprised too. If I'm not mistaken, it was in Mama's third video that things started to get busy, and even more so in the fourth video," she said.

2. Receiving Appreciation

Although the content revealed family secrets, Mario Lawalata's family received appreciation from the wider community. 90 percent of them commented positively, while some didn't like it, but Mario didn't bother with negative comments.

"The positive comments are not like 'thank you for sharing,' but more like 'thank you, finally we can open up.' Finally, we were told that we couldn't hide from our family. That's what we read in the comments, and it made us happy. Turns out, many people are in the same situation, but they are afraid and choose to close themselves off. We are really happy to provide a story that gives them a solution," he said.

"Once again, we see that 90 percent is positive. No matter what good thing there is in Indonesia, there will always be something negative. So, we don't want to focus on the negative. We also don't want to pay attention to the comments. Sometimes, they comment just to be mischievous. After all, this is my family's secret, not yours," he concluded.
