The Last Message from Father to Sarwendah: You Must Be Happy

Kapanlagi.com - The departure of beloved father, Hendrik Lo, has left a huge void in Sarwendah's heart. Although she tries to be strong, she cannot hide her profound sense of loss, especially when reminiscing about the last moments spent with her father.

Sarwendah admitted that she had a premonition before her father's passing. At first, she didn't feel any signs, but her uneasy feeling began after seeing her father's expression following a medical procedure.

"At first, there was nothing, but after yesterday's procedure, seeing his facial expression," Sarwendah said when met at the Grand Heaven funeral home, Pluit, North Jakarta on Saturday (19/7/2025).

Even though her heart began to feel anxious, she and her family tried to think positively and dismiss any negative thoughts. As a child, she certainly was not ready to accept that bitter reality. She expressed how she tried to deny the premonition that arose.

"Well, we do have thoughts about it, but we definitely deny it. We can't accept it, we think there are still many things we can do for him," she said.

1. The Father Wants Sarwendah to be Happy

Sarwendah is grateful for the opportunity to accompany her father in his final moments. She was able to talk with her father before his condition deteriorated drastically. According to her, at that time her father was still able to communicate quite well.

"We got to meet, I got to accompany him. At that time, he could still talk before he underwent the procedure, before his condition worsened. We had a normal conversation," she said.

In that last conversation, her father conveyed a brief yet profound message that deeply touched Sarwendah's heart. The message contained a hope that his daughter would always live in happiness. She clearly remembers her father's last advice.

"His message was just, 'You have to be happy. If you’re sad, then I’ll be sad too.' That's it. Well, those are the words of every parent," she said.

2. Father as Her First Love

For Sarwendah, her father is not just a parent, but also her first love. Their closeness makes this departure feel so heavy. She feels there are still many things she wants to do to make her father happy.

"There are still many things I want to do to make him happy. I am his first love, my daddy," she said.

Sweet memories with her father are now the only thing left for her. When asked what the most unforgettable moment was, Sarwendah admitted there are too many beautiful memories they shared together. For her, every second with her father is a precious moment.

"A lot. Really a lot," she answered briefly.

Now, all Sarwendah can do is pray and ensure that all funeral proceedings go well according to the family's beliefs. She revealed that her father's body will be buried a few days later after going through Feng Shui calculations. This is done because her family still firmly holds onto Chinese traditions.

"My daddy is quite a traditional Chinese, so we calculate Feng Shui. So, the date has been set for the 23rd," she concluded.
