Moment of Nia Ramadhani Singing a Religious Song at Her Grandmother's Funeral, Ardi Bakrie Provides Explanation

Celebrity couple Nia Ramadhani and Ardi Bakrie attended the funeral of Hanna Louise Pol, Nia's grandmother, at TPU Tanah Kusir, South Jakarta. The touching moment was colored by their participation in singing the religious song 'Meeting in the Air' despite differing beliefs.

"So he actually first asked for permission, since we have different beliefs," said Ardi when met after the funeral on Sunday (26/1/2025).

Ardi explained that before attending the service, he first asked for permission from the family. In addition, he also inquired whether his eldest child, Mikhayla Zalindra Bakrie, was allowed to bring a photo of the late grandmother Nia.

"To be able to participate in the service, is it possible? Also, is it okay for Mika (the child) to bring the photo of the deceased? Of course, that's fine," he said.

According to Ardi, the choice of the song 'Meeting in the Air' carries a deep message. The song is believed to reduce sadness and provide hope to the bereaved family.

"And also, if earlier we memorize the 'Meeting in the Air', but the reason why it's called meeting in the air is because she doesn't want, the deceased, for all of us to be sad or to have prolonged sadness," he explained.

Ardi admitted that he and Nia had studied the song so that they could follow along well during the service.

"So actually, if the song we're learning has a faster beat than the one we just heard here. Like the one earlier, at the funeral home," he explained.

On the other hand, Nia Ramadhani expressed her relief after the funeral was over. For her, her grandmother's passing brought peace because she was no longer suffering from illness. "What is certain is that I feel relieved, because what people said, in fact, Oma hasn't been sick since yesterday," Nia said.

However, Nia could not hide her sadness when her grandmother's coffin was closed. That moment became a very emotional one that left a lasting impression on her.

"Because just now when the coffin was closed, I couldn't see Grandma's face anymore," she said in a soft tone.

Although feeling a sense of loss, Nia held onto her grandmother's last message asking her not to dwell in sadness. "But Grandma said we shouldn't be sad even though we cried earlier. God willing, Grandma's path will be made easier," she expressed.

In addition, Nia hopes that all the good deeds her grandmother ever did will be rewarded, and all her mistakes will be forgiven by God.

"All that she did, the kindnesses that Grandma did, may they become rewards in Heaven, and may the mistakes she made also be forgiven," she said.
