The name Kiko Mizuhara has recently attracted attention because she has become the 'muse' or inspiration for renowned sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor, known for his underwater installations in various countries.

The underwater statue titled 'Ocean Gaia', which has a face resembling Kiko, was officially installed on October 14, 2025, in the waters around Tokunoshima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.

Recently, a unique event occurred in Japan. A professional sculptor submerged his work in the waters of Tokunoshima, weighing over 45 tons and measuring about 5.5 meters wide.

The statue, called 'Ocean Gaia', features the serene face of renowned model Kiko Mizuhara, created as if she were asleep while pregnant on sand that forms intricate circular patterns often made by the spotted pufferfish from Japan.

Jason designed Ocean Gaia not only as a work of art but also as a home for marine life. Surrounding the statue are small holes that allow fish and other marine organisms to take shelter.

Kiko Mizuhara herself attended the installation of the statue on the seabed. "This work becomes the first underwater statue ever installed in Japan," Jason deCaires Taylor stated in his post caption.

Regarding the selection of Tokunoshima Island as the location for the statue, Jason deCaires Taylor revealed that this island is known for its healthy lifestyle, high birth rates, and an extraordinarily large elderly population.

The landscape is adorned with a range of mountains that, when viewed from a distance, resemble the silhouette of a pregnant woman, making it the perfect location for Ocean Gaia.
