It is known that they have known each other for a long time. They first met when they were still in elementary school. At that time, Desta was a friend of Vincent's older brother.
This story was revealed by Vincent himself through the YouTube channel Soleh Solihun.
"I've known Desta since elementary school, he's my brother's friend. I've known him for 27 years until now. (Back then, I felt like a nobody in front of Desta), but not anymore," explained Vincent Rompies.

Of course, at first Vincent felt hesitant towards Desta. Especially since Desta is his brother's friend. But after studying and both joining Clubeighties, Vincent feels that he is on the same level as Desta.
"(Started feeling on the same level as Desta) when we are in Clubeighties," he continued.
Besides that, Desta is also the one who taught him how to draw when he entered IKJ in 1998.
"Because Desta was the one who taught me how to draw to pass the IKJ test," he said again.

Although Desta is older and his brother's friend, Vincent never calls him 'mas' or even 'bang' (brother). Instead, he calls Desta with this nickname.
"Never called him 'mas'. I used to call him Kosa, that's his father's nickname, Kosa Kosa like that. I even call my brother Iyep, even though his name is Cliff," he concluded.
