This 50-year-old preacher regularly practices the Idris fast. He does this to suppress his desires and take care of himself after losing his beloved wife.
"We don't know what our soulmate is, but if I had to choose, I would prefer to take care of and nurture my children," replied Ustaz Maulana during a FYP Trans7 broadcast as seen on the Trans7 Official YouTube channel, Friday (17/1/2025).
"That's why I fast every day. It's called Idris fasting. Every day (fasting) except for Idul Fitri, Idul Adha, and the days of tashrik since my wife passed away," he admitted.
He is determined to continue the late wife's struggle in educating their children. Ustaz Maulana stated that every day he fasts as a way to cope with his longing and to maintain focus on his responsibilities as a father.
"Because a man should not live alone, he must have a partner. Therefore, the Prophet said to get married," said the actor from the film Bu Tejo Sowan Jakarta.
"If you don't have time (to get married), then fast. So I fast," he continued.
